JULIA ANGELARD FACES A DIFFICULT START TO THE NEW SEASON
- The first round of the WSK Super Master Series, held last weekend at the La Conca circuit in southern Italy, was a kind of training before the start of larger racing series.
- Even though only a few weeks of the year are behind us, the 13-year-old ORLEN Motorsport Academy competitor started the 2026 season very intensively – with numerous training and testing trips.
- Unlike most drivers, Julia Angelard was at the La Conca circuit for the first time in her career, and due to her trip to Manchester as part of the More Than Equal project, she only had one test day at her disposal.
- Despite qualifying well during the heats, the teenage Polish driver had to struggle with the kart settings and was hit by one of her rivals in the final heat, which resulted in her spinning on the track and prematurely ending her competition during the last round.
- Despite a difficult start to the year, teenage Birel ART driver looks with optimism at the season in new colors and the races that await her in the nexth months.
Karting competitions on the international arena already started – last weekend, the first round of this year’s WSK Super Master Series took place at the La Conca circuit in Italy, with 313 competitors participating. Among them was 13-year-old ORLEN Motorsport Academy driver Julia Angelard, who not only moved from the OK-N Junior category to the OK Junior category, but also switched teams to Birel ART at the beginning of the year, benefiting from the support of the Richard Mille Young Talent Academy and the More Than Equal project.
Training not without difficulties
The teenage Polish driver, competing in seven series and cups this season, treated the WSK Super Master Series from the outset as a form of training in combat conditions, aimed at adapting to her new team and kart as best as possible. The qualifying session went very well, placing the Polish driver in 14th place in her group, but difficulties arose during the individual heats. As a result, the Minardi Management protégé ended her competition prematurely, unable to compete in the semifinals due to penalties imposed on her and a collision that robbed her of the chance to compete. Nevertheless, the kilometers spent on the track and the hours spent improving her cooperation with the new team should yield tangible benefits in the near future.
Julia Angelard: It only gets better
“La Conca is a completely new track for me, so being here was a great opportunity to learn and start working towards the best possible results this season. I am aware that I have at my disposal solid race pace, it remains a matter of finding common ground with the new kart and team. I believe this will happen as soon as possible. I’m glad that before the starts in Champions of the Future and Champions of the Future Academy I can give myself the opportunity to test myself in combat conditions, because thanks to this we will be able to solve most of the problems before the decisive phase of this year’s season,” admits Julia Angelard.
The ORLEN Motorsport Academy protégé will now have a two-week break – at the beginning of February in Sarno, Italy, she will take part in the second round of the WKS Super Master Series, scheduled for February 4-8, 2026.
