JULIA ANGELARD FACES A DIFFICULT WEEKEND IN THE ROK CUP ITALIA

  • Last weekend, the Franciacorta Karting Track in Castrezzato, Italy, once again became the arena for the competition of drivers competing in this year’s ROK Cup Italia.
  • Julia Angelard, representing JSTR by Jastrzębski Racing, started the competition with a fantastic qualifying session, taking third place in her time trial. Unfortunately, the qualifying heats didn’t go as planned for the 13-year-old Pole, and she narrowly missed advancing to the final.
  • Throughout the weekend, the teenage Pole was accompanied by Maya Weug, who competes in the F1 Academy, and there was also a meeting with Susie Wolff, the director of the series.

Last weekend’s seventh and penultimate round of the ROK Cup Italia brought the drivers together for the third time this year in Castrezzato, Italy. There, at the Franciacorta Karting Track, they battled for the best results. Representing the JSTR by Jastrzębski Racing team, Julia Angelard once again showed strong pace at the start of the weekend, but the rest of the weekend proved more bitter than sweet.

Strong qualifications and unlucky heats
During the qualifying session, Julia Angelard once again found herself among the top competitors as the fastest woman on the track. With a time of 50.121, the Polish teenager secured a solid third place in her qualifying group, posting an identical time, tying her third-place rival in the other group. This result clearly confirmed that Julia possesses the pace to fight for the top spots on the track.

Unfortunately, qualifying results don’t always translate into an equally strong race result, as the Hungarian Formula 1 Grand Prix demonstrated. Starting third in the first heat, Julia Angelard advanced one position on the first lap. However, after covering half the race distance, a collision with other drivers forced her off the track, compromising her chances of a top result. The second heat, starting from fourth on the grid, also saw a racing incident, but Julia managed to reach the finish line this time – unfortunately, she narrowly missed advancing to the final, causing the teenage Polish driver to finish earlier than expected.

Maya Weug, a Ferrari junior competing in the F1 Academy, was on track throughout the race weekend. Julia Angelard also met with Susie Wolff, the series’ director.

Julia Angelard: you have to look for the positives
“On weekends like this, you have to look for the positives. Once again, I finished among the top qualifiers and proved to be the fastest female driver in the entire field. I was unlucky in the races, but that’s racing – incidents on track are part of the DNA of this sport. I’m grateful that Maya Weug once again dedicated her time to supporting me during the competition. I’m also glad I finally had the pleasure of meeting Susie Wolff in person”, admits the JSTR by Jastrzębski Racing driver.
