While the fight for the Formula 1 championship title is heating up, most karting series have already concluded their 2025 season. This doesn’t mean a dry spell for competitors, however. On the contrary, karting drivers are taking advantage of every opportunity to get back on the track and prepare for the challenges of the coming year. Julia Angelard took advantage of the past round of the WSK Final Cup at the Franciacorta track in just such a way, appearing as one of five Polish representatives in the OK Junior category among the 69-strong field of drivers at the start of the competition.
Experience is more important than results
Even before the race weekend, the assumption was obvious: it wasn’t the result that mattered, but the experience gained in the OK Junior category, a new category for the teenage Pole. The next competition with the Ward Racing team also provides an additional opportunity for edification proper relationships with the engineer and mechanics, allowing for almost wordless communication throughout the season. Furthermore, the WSK Final Cup is a series featuring all the world’s top karting drivers, who compete in the European and World Championships, ensuring a competitive race against the best of the best.
From this perspective, qualifying 20th in her group, then advancing one spot in the first heat, consistently battling with competitors in the second heat, and advancing three spots in the third heat undoubtedly demonstrated good pace and quick adaptation to the new conditions. Furthermore, Julia Angelard, thanks to her results and advancement to 18th place in the Prefinal, qualified for the final race in her debut, clearly underscoring the teenage athlete’s determination and determination to fight for everything, despite treating this round as a kind of training in combat conditions.
The Minardi Management protégé was the only female driver in the 36-strong field for the weekend’s most important race. Unfortunately, in the final run, despite advancing three positions, Julia Angelard was passively involved in a collision with two other drivers, eliminating her from the high-placed field.
Julia Angelard: plan more than 100% implemented
“It was a positive weekend – it was my first time competing in the new OKJ category. I had a really good start in the final, gaining a few positions, but ultimately I was a bit unlucky – two drivers collided in front of me and I couldn’t avoid them. I’m glad I managed not only to advance to the final race, but also to be the only girl there. The plan for this weekend was more than 100% fulfilled, and I can’t wait not only to see what the next competitions will bring, but also the entire upcoming season,” emphasizes Julia Angelard.
