MATTIA BUCCI WINS AT IMOLA AND BECOMES THE CHAMPIONSHIP LEADER
The Agoglia-Bucci-Cremona trio finally gets their first victory
The third and penultimate round of the Italian GT Championship’s Endurance series was held in Imola from September 4th to 6th. It was a memorable weekend for the young driver, who finally realized his dream of winning a race on the historic Imola circuit.
During qualifying, the #163 Lamborghini took pole position in its class. Sunday’s race proved particularly challenging: Cremona led the way, followed by Agoglia and, finally, Mattia. After two hours of racing, the other cars in the race suffered serious problems, causing them to retire or slow down. The DL Racing trio maintained a steady pace until the end, securing the victory and the championship lead.
“We conclude the third round of the Italian GT Championship Endurance Series with a pole position and a victory at Imola, my first in GT racing. It was an indescribable feeling. But, as I’ve always said, even in the most difficult moments, I knew our moment would come. Fortune has finally turned in our favor, after a complex and adverse season. The team’s tenacious spirit and their hard work are a source of pride for me: they never gave up, even in the darkest moments. That’s why I want to thank DL Racing for providing us with a fantastic car, DAG Management for their incredible support, my partners, and my family, who have always been by my side. Now, however, we need to focus on the season finale at Mugello from October 30th to November 1st to defend our lead in the standings,” said Mattia.
In a month, however, on the weekend of 9-11 October, the fourth and final race weekend of the Sprint series will take place in Monza. It will be possible to follow the events on the official ACI Sport channel (http://www.youtube.com/@ACISportTVofficial ), on Sky channel 228, and on Tivùsat channel 52.
